Competition for the Women in Science Baltic Fellowship 2025 is launched

For the second year in a row, the Baltic Academies of Sciences, in cooperation with UNESCO National Commissions, are launching a joint fellowship competition “Women in Science Baltic Fellowship 2025”. Nine outstanding Baltic women scientists will each receive a fellowship of 7,000 euros, recognizing their previous achievements and encouraging further research.

The aim of the fellowship is to support women scientists so that they can build a career in scientific research in the Baltic States. The national competitions are intended to evaluate and support the best young women scientists from the Baltic States in their pursuit of excellence in science, as well as to popularize the achievements of young women scientists and encourage the most talented women students to choose a career as a scientist.

Applications will be open to young women scientists who are currently studying for a doctoral degree or working on their doctoral thesis at Latvian universities or research institutions, as well as women scientists who have obtained a doctoral degree no more than seven years ago and are working at one of Latvia's universities or research institutions.

Two fellowships will be awarded in Latvia in the fields of natural sciences, engineering and technology, medicine and health sciences – one for a doctoral candidate and one for a doctor of science, as well as one fellowship for a doctor of science in the field of social sciences and humanities.

The fellowship competition in Latvia is organized by the Latvian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Latvian National Commission for UNESCO and with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Fellowship applicants are invited to submit applications from May 12, 2025 to June 12, 2025 by filling out the application form, which must be confirmed with a valid electronic signature, and sending it to the e-mail address This email address is being protected from spambots.
